Game 105 - vs. Bricklayers|
A game of legendary rivals. Dating back to the famous second game ever for the Os, the Bricklayers have been arch-rivals. The Os finally broke through on October 25th, 2005 with their first ever win against the dreaded rivals. Then the following year, the Bricklayers disappeared. Fortunately, they returned to the league. Unfortunately, they were able to squeak by with a win over the Os.
The game was tight wire-to-wire. Neither team could build much of a lead. The first half was something of a 3-point shooting exhibition, with both teams hitting numerous outside shots. Although the Bricklayers held a 24-20 advantage at the half, the Os stormed back. The Bricklayers held a 1 point lead with about 25 seconds left, leaving the Os with the last shot. After working the ball around, Lil’ Joe got off an open 3 for the win, but it fell just short, leaving the Os with their 3rd loss (two of which the Os had last second shots for the win).
As exciting as the game was, it could not compare to the post-game celebration. Multiple Bricklayers attended the post-game festivities (and even were priviledged enough to cast Ophy votes). Regardless, the highlight was Heidi’s water breaking as she prepared to bring a member of Os: The Next Generation into the world. Amongst comments hoping for a middle name of “Ophy,” Heidi managed to secure 2 Ophy votes. Mr. Smooth pulled in a vote for his 2-for-2 3-point shooting. Duggo got a vote for his balanced performance of 3 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal and assist. The Neil/Shaq O’Neil/Roster Guard’s 13 points, and Steve-O’s 15 rebounds did not pull a vote due to the great performance by Lil’ Joe. He had 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. He also set an Os’ record with 13 3-point attempts (although his 4-13 performance was much better than Mr. Smooth’s previous record 0-12).
